Virtual Reality Program Helps Homebound Seniors Explore the World

Technology is opening new worlds for seniors unable to leave their homes. The “Windows to the World” program, developed by tech startup Virtua-Life, provides virtual reality headsets to homebound elderly individuals, allowing them to “visit” museums, attend concerts, and explore natural wonders from the comfort of their chairs. “It’s given me a new lease on life,” says 87-year-old participant Eleanor Simmons. “I feel like I’m traveling the world again.” The program has shown promising results in combating depression and cognitive decline in participants, leading to discussions about its potential integration into senior care facilities nationwide
